The Smart Lab
The Smart Lab is used by language professors to provide
students with a classroom lecture while using state-of-the-art
teaching and collaboration tools. The lab is unique
because professors are able to provide language proficiency
through the use of digital recording software. Professors
can use the projection screen to display video files
as well as access audio files for oral assessments/testing.
Students enrolled in language courses (Spanish, American
Language, ESL, French etc.) may use the Smart Lab when
directed and assisted by the professor. The Smart Lab
uses the Sanako Study 1200 software. This program allows
professors and students to transfer audio files within
the network.
Students can play audio and video files as well as
record audio files for testing by the professors. Professors
may also test students by using methods such as random
pairing and group conferences.
